Bastille is full of trendy cafés and brasseries (and by trendy, we also mean expensive), but fortunately, some places really stand out. Here are some of our best and inexpensive places to eat in the Bastille area and nearby.
Café de l’industrie
16 rue Saint Sablin – 75011 Paris – Métro : Bastille
The Café de l’Industrie (Industry Café) has taken over a whole crossroads right in the middle of the Bastille quarter. It comes in three distinct establishments: a red-fronted restaurant with a ‘colonial house’ style interior and a terrace which is crowded on summer days (Industry summer version), a restaurant with a wooden front and high windows, plants and a piano (Industry winter version) and a lively bar (Industry night version). The plus? The waitresses, who, each in her own way, break many hearts! Oh, and the food is really good!
Bar à soupes
33 rue de Charonne – 75011 – Paris – Métro: Charonne
Here, everything is 100% natural, with the set lunch comprising of soup, salad and a glass of wine (or an iced tea) and set evening meals consisting of three small tasting soups. Prepared with fresh products, the soup recipes change each day, but there are always six. Some examples? Market soup, gazpacho, yellow Indian lentil… girls on a diet, smile: they’re tasty!
