Cocktail bars, fluorescent lights, concerts and live music everywhere… the Bastille quarter is without a doubt one of the flagship areas for student nightlife. From the rue de Lappe, along the rue de Charonne and the rue de la Roquette, the atmosphere is overflowing. At the centre of the Parisian scene in the 1980s, when the Bastille Opera first emerged, these ancient streets filled with artisans, carpenters and cabinet makers are still an unbeatable place to go today. For a short while, you’d forget that the first page of the French Revolution was written at Bastille.
